Meet Craig Stoddard
The Man Behind FLoppy Drive
HELLO, WORLD!
Meet Craig Stoddard, the man behind the rising music project, Floppy Drive Music. He recently released his third body of work as Floppy Drive titled “The Flowers Above”.
With a healthy blend of talent, passion, and dedication, Craig has been carving his name into the experimental bass music scene with his unique sound and engaging performances.
With a background in computer engineering and a love for music sparked in his youth, Craig has managed to merge his skills and passions into an exciting project that is gaining traction in the music industry.
Floppy Drive is not a new kid on the block. After performing on stage 50+ times over the last four years, Craig is marking the 5th year of his music journey. His breakthrough came in 2020 when he won the opener contest at The Intersection (Grand Rapids) by the well known artist, Clozee.
Fast forward to 2023, Craig won the Road to Summer Camp competition hosted at the Stache (Grand Rapids). This achievement led him to perform on the Ilumination Woods stage where over 300 people scheduled his set on the Summer Camp Music Festival app. Floppy Drive's music, characterized by its nostalgic vibes, has found its place in the community. Craig lets the music guide him as he creates each song, using a mix of modular and software synths.
Drawing inspiration from artists like GRiZ, Late Night Radio, Daily Bread, Manic Focus, and Pretty Lights, Floppy Drive is crafting a sound that is reminiscent yet fresh. Like all artists, Craig admits that the journey has had its challenges. It takes patience and persistence to grow organically, and he is committed to this slow and steady path to success.
